Thanks for coming to IMS Welcome 2012!

It was great to see you all, and I hope you enjoyed the evening.
I'll be putting the health-food fact sheets up on our website, along with some links to key studies.
We'll also post a super-clear summary of "Medicine in Modern China", and some notes and photos from the Institute of Chinese Medicine. China is the world leader in integrating conventional and alternative medicine, so it's really worth finding out more. I know it was a pretty intense first event, and I hope the food helped fuel you through it!

Our next event will be "Arabic Medicine - Hijama"
It's a talk on cupping, one of the oldest and most popular alternative medicines in the world. I've spoken to Dr Ravalia, who is extremely enthusiastic, and he'll be bringing some cupping equipment for us to look at. We'll also be trying Ginger-Apple, Peppermint and Oolong tea.
(18:00 Tuesday 30th October, Anatomy Lecture Theatre, Hodgkin)
Please drop us an email if you intend to come, so we can buy enough tea!

Finally, for those interested in running for committee, please check out the instructions (Here) - you'll need to send us your 100-150 word manifesto by Friday 12:00pm.
I hope we get lots of applications, as running a society like IMS will give you loads of valuable skills and a chance to invite all kinds of eminent speakers!

Warm regards,

Hypnotherapy Demo Track

The Hypnotherapy event was a huge success, so thanks everyone for turning up! There was a fantastic turnout and the self hypnosis and relaxation techniques were incredible.

Dr Zarod spoke eloquently about Hypnotherapy, its use in controlling pain, what a hypnotherapy session entails and the principles on which it's based.

She showed us some self empowerment techniques and talked us through a short trance aimed at relaxation.

She was also kind enough to leave a CD with a demo track, which I've attempted to upload. (If you can't access it, email ims.kcl@gmail.com and we'll send you the file)

It was a great night, and something to celebrate, so warmest regards and good luck with exams!
